FORT SMITH, Ark. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Women's Golf will compete in the NCAA II Central Regional for the fourth time in six seasons May 7-9 at St. Joseph Country Club in St. Joseph, Missouri.
All participants will compete through the 54 holes of competition. The top five (central), four (south), four (east) and five (west) teams along with the top two individuals not on an advancing team will advance to the championships.
The championships will be held May 12-16 at PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The number of participants that qualify for the finals is 98.
UAFS is led by All-MIAA Second Team honoree Aliesa Situmorang, who paces the Lions with a 76.1 scoring average. She won the season-opening NSU Invitational as the Lions placed second as a team Situmorang has two top-fives and three top 10s this season.
The Lions won the Jewel Invitational as a team, as Ali Perry, Lauren Evans and Situmorang all placed in the top five. Evans and Perry are second and third on the team in scoring average and each have the low round of the year with a 70 (-2).
Perry won the NCAA II Central Regional a year ago.
UAFS finished fourth at the Holiday Inn Express Invitational in the fall at the site of next week's regional. Evans placed seventh while Catherine Haas-Black finished in a tie for ninth. The Lions carded a three-round total of 630 (+54).
