JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Chandler Cooke strung together back-to-back under par rounds as he paced University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Men's Golf at the MIAA Championships this week at Jefferson City Country Club.
Cooke shook off a first-round 77 to shoot 70 (-2) and 71 (-1) in rounds two and three to finish tied for seventh with a 218 (+2). Cooke led the Lions with nine birdies and tallied an eagle in round three.
Sam Sewell carded rounds of 77-74-74 as he tied for 22nd with a 225 (+9). He was one of three Lions to total six birdies and had the second most pars with 34.
Alex Bloxham closed out the tournament with an even-par 72 to go with rounds of 77-78 to finish tied for 29th with a 227 (+11). He led the Lions with 35 pars and had five birdies.
Braylan Mahanay matched Cooke's 71 in the final round as he finished with six total birdies and a 230 (+14) with rounds of 81-78-71 to tie for 39th. Murphy Allard rounded out the UAFS lineup in a tie for 44th with rounds of 79-76-76 for a 231 (+15). He totaled six birdies.
The Lions finished sixth as a team with an 896 (+32) with rounds of 310-298-288. They totaled 32 birdies and 166 pars and finished third in par-4 scoring.
