PITTSBURG, Kan. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Men's Golf placed eighth at the Tommy Riggs Collegiate Invitational, carding a 54-hole total of 931 (+67) at Crestwood Country Club.
The Lions finished with 146 pars and 25 birdies.
Sam Sewell led the Lions with a 15th-place finish, recording a 228 (+12) with rounds of 79-76-73. Sewell and Murphy Allard each led the Lions with seven birdies.
JD Frederiksen and Sewell were both in the top 10 in par-3 scoring, as Frederiksen tied for 28th with a 231 (+15). He tallied rounds of 76-74-81 and was tied for seventh after 36 holes. He recorded four birdies and a team-high 34 pars.
Phisher Phillips tied for 53rd with a 237 (+21) after rounds of 81-79-77 with two birdies while Allard tied for 58th with a 238 (+22) with rounds of 80-81-77. Allard tied Sewell with seven birdies and led the Lions in par-5 scoring at -2.
Chandler Cooke rounded out the lineup by tying for 64th with a 240 (+24). He tallied rounds of 81-79-80 with five birdies.
Next up for the Lions is the RJGA Palm Valley Classic April 6-7 at Palm Golf Club in Goodyear, Arizona.
