THACKERVILLE, Okla. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Women's Golf concluded play at the Lone Star Conference Championships Tuesday at WinStar Golf Club, finishing the event in 10th place.
The Lions finished the 54-hole tournament with a score of 914 (+50). UAFS carded rounds of 306, 298 and 310 while recording 27 birdies.
Sydney Williams led the Lions' efforts with a tie for 22nd by carding a 224 (+8). Williams tallied 13 pars as she shot a 73 (+1) in the opening round. She followed that up with rounds of 74 and 77 to close the tournament. She notched nine birdies over the three rounds, including five in round two.
Rachel Hicks matched Williams with a team-high nine birdies as she tied for 36th with a 228 (+12). Hicks shot rounds of 76-74-78 as she led the Lions in par-5 scoring by shooting even par.
Sidney Stramel and Marvelyn Kartika each tied for 51st with 233s (+17). Both recorded 33 pars to tie for the team high while Kartika led the Lions by shooting even par on par-3s. Stramel shot rounds of 80-77-76 and Kartika carded rounds of 81-73-79.
Simone Campise rounded out the lineup for the Lions in a tie for 63rd with a 246 (+30).
UAFS will now wait to see if it is selected for its third straight NCAA II West Regional appearance, as the Lions were 10th in the latest regional rankings.
