ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Women's Golf placed two in the top 10 as the Lions concluded play at the Holiday Inn Express Invitational Tuesday.
Lauren Evans led after round one with an even par 72 before shooting an 82 in round tow to finish seventh with a 154 (+1) while Catherine Haas-Black tied for ninth with a 156 (+12) with rounds of 81-75.
Evans was the lone player to shoot under par on par-4 scoring for the tournament at two-under while Haas-Black finished in the top five in par-3 scoring. Evans led the tournament with seven birdies with Haas-Black totaling four birdies.
Ali Perry paced the Lions with 23 pars as she tied for 17th with a 158 (+14), recording rounds of 77-81. Aliesa Situmorang tied for 32nd with a 162 (+18) following rounds of 80-82.
Kaitlyn Canales tied for 64th after rounds of 81-87 for a 168 (+24) while Kenley McElyea placed 98th with a 178 (+34).
The Lions placed fourth as a team, three strokes behind second. UAFS finished with a 630 (+50) with rounds of 310-320. The Lions led the tournament with 98 pars and totaled 14 birdies.
UAFS wraps up the fall season October 27-28 at the Tulsa Cup at Forest Ridge Golf Course.
