Women's Golf takes sixth at The Southern Invite

SPRING, Texas - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Women's Golf shot the second lowest score in the final round as the Lions finished sixth at The Southern Invite Tuesday.

The Lions shot a 296 (+8) in the final round as they moved up three spots on the leaderboard to finish with a 912 (+48). UAFS shot 307 and 309 in the first two rounds. The Lions tied for the second most birdies in the field with 33.

Kaitlyn Canales led the Lions as she tied for 12th with a 225 (+9). She totaled five birdies and had rounds of 75-74-76. Canales led the Lions with 36 pars and along with Aliesa Situmorang tied for second in par-4 scoring at plus-three.

Situmorang finished tied for 19th with a 228 (+12), carding rounds of 78-77-73. She totaled eight birdies, including three each in rounds two and three.

Ali Perry tallied a 70 (-2) in her final round after rounds of 83-79 to tie for 35th with a 232 (+16). She had four of her five birdies in the final round.

Paris Dufresne led the Lions with 10 birdies, tying for the most in the tournament. She had at least three in each round as she carded rounds of 77-79-77 to finish with a 233 (+17).

Lauren Evans rounded out the UAFS lineup with a 242 (+26) to tie for 63rd with rounds of 77-85-80.

UAFS is next in action March 8-10 at the Emerald Coast Classic at Baytowne Golf Club in Destin, Florida.
