DESTIN, Fla. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Women's Golf placed eighth at the Emerald Coast Classic Tuesday after the final round was canceled due to inclement weather.
Teams were halfway through round three when the tournament was canceled, and all scores reverted to the last round completed. UAFS shot a 306 in each of the first two rounds, finishing with a 612 (+44).
Sidney Stramel led the Lions by tying for 17th in the 96-player field, shooting a two-round total of 150 (+8). She followed up a first round 77 with a second round 73. Stramel posted a scored of two-under on par-5s and totaled three birdies.
Simone Campise tied for 35th with a 153 (+11), carding rounds of 76 and 77. Sydney Williams tied for 39th after rounds of 75 and 79 to finish with a 154 (+12). Williams was one-under on par-3s for the event while Campise was even par. Campise was also one-under on par-5s and led the Lions with six birdies.
Rachel Hicks and Marvelyn Kartika completed the five for the Lions, tying for 41st and 59th, respectively. Hicks shot a 155 (+14) with scores of 78 and 77 while Kartika shot a 158 (+16) with two 79s.
UAFS has one final tune-up before the Lone Star Conference Championships with the King-Alfred Spring Invitational March 28-29 hosted by UT Tyler at Eagles Bluff Country Club in Bullard, Texas.
