FORT SMITH, Ark. – Senior Addison Mitchell and freshman Sidney Stramel each earned top-10 finishes Tuesday at the Hardscrabble Invitational, held at Hardscrabble Country Club.
Mitchell placed fourth and Stramel eighth as the Lady Lions finished third of six teams.
Mitchell finished with an overall score of 223 (+13) after carding rounds of 73-74-76 and converting nine birdies and 28 pars.
Stramel kept pace with Mitchell through round one and shot 78-79 in rounds two and three for a total of 230 (+20). Stramel totaled the third most pars with 31.
Freshman Rachel Hicks and senior Alejandra Rodriguez gave UAFS four golfers in the top-15, with Hicks tying for 11th and Rodriguez tying for 14th. Hicks had scores of 77-77-81 for a 235 (+25) and Rodriguez had rounds of 82-75-80 for a 237 (+27). Rodriguez was one of five players to record an eagle.
Senior Sydnie Gamble rounded out the five for the Lady Lions, placing 23rd with a 247 (+37).
Freshmen Simone Campise and Krislyn Andrews played as individuals, with Campise recording a 250 (+40) and Andrews a 257 (+47).
UAFS finished third with a 925 (+85) with rounds of 305-304-316. UAFS led the tournament in par-5 scoring, shooting just three-over par on those holes. Mitchell was three-under on par-5s and Rodriguez two-under.
Postseason play is up next for the Lady Lions, as they head to Texas Rangers Golf Club in Arlington for the Lone Star Conference Tournament April 12-14.
