TROPHY CLUB, Texas – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Women's Golf turned in another top-five performance against a strong field Tuesday at the Lion Invitational, finishing fifth out of 15 teams on the Whitworth Course at Trophy Club Country Club.
UAFS finished with a total score of 639 (+63) over the two rounds, as the final round was canceled after a weather delay Monday. The Lady Lions carded rounds of 321 and 318.
Freshman Sidney Stramel led the Lady Lions by tying for 11th with a 156 (+12). After an 81 in round one, Stramel bounced back to post a 75 in round two. Stramel was among the top players on par-5s, shooting one under on those holes.
Seniors Addison Mitchell and Alejandra Rodriguez each tied for 25th, carding 160s (+16). Mitchell shot 78 and 82 while Rodriguez tallied scores of 80 each round.
Freshman Rachel Hicks and senior Sydnie Gamble also posted identical scores, tying for 42nd with 165s (+21). Hicks shot 82 and 83 while Gamble improved to an 81 in round two after an 84 Monday.
Mitchell and Stramel were among the par leaders, with 24 and 22, respectively. Stramel, Hicks and Rodriguez all recorded two birdies each.
