UAFS men's golf team has concluded the LCU Chap Classic on Tuesday afternoon as the Lions finished ninth after three rounds.
Although Lions struggled, head coach
Daniel Hayden was very optimistic, "We have to continue looking at the positives, it's so easy to be negative when things aren't going our way. Our score does not show it but there are a bunch of positives to take away from this event."
As a team, Lions shot 910 (309, 305, 296) after three rounds and were led by freshman
Michael Gower with 221 (76, 72, 73) and tie for 14th place.
Jeremy Bates shot 231 (79, 77, 75), placing 36th while Case Engelhart and
Jonathan Shelton shot identical 234 and were tied for 39th place in overall rankings. They were followed by
Hudson Kindy who shot 236 and tied for 44th in the rankings.
"We are still waiting for that magical time when everything comes together at once. We have showed signs of greatness, just not all five players at once," added Hayden.
Lions are now getting ready for their next event at "The Regional Preview, hosted by Western New Mexico in Silver City, N. M. -- March 30-31. Ahead of the next tournament coach Hayden is hopeful of his team performin up to their potential, "We have three weeks until our next event, and this will give the players time to fine-tune some weaknesses and develop a game plan for the Regional Preview," concluded Hayden.
