ARLINGTON, Texas – Cold and rainy weather in the forecast shortened the Lion Classic at Texas Rangers Golf Club in Arlington Monday, with the event finishing after one round instead of the scheduled three.
The University of Arkansas-Fort Smith Lady Lions battled the tough conditions to finish tied for third in the 10-team field with a 317 (+29).
Sophomore Sydnie Gamble paced UAFS with a 78 (+6), carding a birdie on each nine. Gamble finished tied for 10th.
Both senior Addison Mitchell and freshman Sidney Stramel posted matching scores of 79 (+7) to tie for 18th. After a front nine 42, Mitchell bounced back with a 37 on the back nine. Stramel carded a pair of birdies on the front nine en route to a 38.
Freshmen Simone Campise and Rachel Hicks rounded out the five for the Lady Lions, with Campise shooting an 81 (+9) and Hicks an 84 (+12). Campise tied for 26th and Hicks tied for 37th.
This event concluded the fall for the Lady Lions.
