COLUMBIA, Mo. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Cross Country wrapped up their regular season Saturday by running in the Brian T. Simpson Invitational at Gans Creek Cross Country Course. 
UAFS finished fourth with 111 points in the women's 5k race and sixth in the men's 8k race with 157 points. 
Madison Thurston led the Lion women once again with an 11th-place finish as the Lions ran on a course littered with mud. Cecilia Perez finished in 20th while Annabella Tedder was the third Lion to cross the line in 28th. 
Zoe Nesbitt and Michaela Kaelin were 37th and 45th, respectively, to round out the top five for the Lions. Brookelyn Davis and Karley Sharp completed the lineup for UAFS in 57th and 79th. 
Evan Smith paced the UAFS men as he placed 20th, ahead of Angel Cordero in 26th and Isaac Teague in 36th. Joaquin Alva finished just one second behind Teague in 37th. 
Troy Ferguson crossed the line in 55th to round out the top five while Conner Valentine finished 68th and Vincent Gonzales 75th.
Next up for the Lions are the MIAA Championships October 25 in Pittsburg, Kansas.
