MONKEY ISLAND, Okla. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Men's Golf shot a 283 (-5) in round two as the Lions climbed six spots on the leaderboard to claim the victory.
The win marks the first for the Lions since winning the J.R. Watkins invite in the fall of 2017.
UAFS carded a 295 (+7) in round one, putting it in a tie for sixth after one day as the second round Monday was canceled due to rain, shortening the event to 36 holes. The Lions would finish with a 578 (+2), one stroke ahead of Arkansas Tech and two shots ahead of a three-way tie for third.
Jeremy Tandoy once again paced the Lions as he finished with a 143 (-1) to tie for fifth. He carded one eagle and shot a four-under 32 on the back nine in round two. He had five birdies in the second round and finished with seven total.
Christopher Taylor flipped the script on the back nine in his round two, as he shot a 34 (-2) with four birdies after a first round 40 (+4) on the same nine holes. Overall, he carded a 75 (+3) in round one and a 69 (-3) in round to finish tied for 10th with a 144 (E). He tallied one eagle and eight birdies for the event.
Alex Bloxham also tallied an eagle in round one and finished with eight total birdies as he scored rounds of 74-71. He was one of three Lions with a 34 (-2) on the back nine of round two and finished with a 145 (+1) to finish tied for 16th.
Chandler Cooke was the third to shoot a 34 on the back nine in round two and finished his second round with an even par 72. That followed a first round 74 to shoot a `146 (+2) and place in a tie for 24th. He finished with a team-high nine birdies.
Judd Hays rounded out the lineup for the Lions with a 154 (+10) carding rounds of 76-78 and totaling five birdies.
UAFS next plays in the Ichabod Invitational October 21-22 at Topeka Country Club in Topeka, Kansas.
