HOUSTON – Jeremy Tandoy earned a second consecutive top-10 finish to start the 2024 spring season with a tie for eighth Tuesday at the Houston Classic.
Tandoy finished the three-round event with a 221 (+5) and was one of two Lions to record an eagle in the event. He was second in par-5 scoring at five under and was second on the Lions with 10 birdies. After a first round 76, Tandoy improved to a 73 in round two and finished with an even par 72. He had four birdies in each the second and third round.
Chandler Cooke bounced back from a first-round 79 to tied for 12th with a 222 (+6). He led the Lions with 11 birdies, including five in a third round 69 (-3). It was his sixth round under par this season. Cooke was the other Lion to record an eagle and led the tournament in par-3 scoring at two under.
Andrew Fakult tied for 21st with a 226 (+10), also recording a 69 (-3) in Tuesday's final round with four birdies. He shot 82 and 75 in the first two rounds, respectively. He totaled the second most pars on the team with 32.
Preston Green played as an individual and led the Lions with 34 pars. He finished tied for 47th with a 235 (+19) after rounds of 78-81-76. Alex Bloxham tied for 55th with a 236 (+20) while Sam Sewell rounded out the lineup with a 255 (+39) to tie for 83rd.
UAFS was the only team with multiple eagles and finished fourth with 36 birdies. The Lions finished sixth overall with a 906 (+42), improving nearly 20 strokes from round one to round two and then again from round two to round three. The 283 (-5) in the final round is the lowest since a 279 in 2021.
