FORT SMITH, Ark. – The University of Arkansas - Fort Smith tennis teams wrapped up a strong fall season Saturday as the men competed at the Savage Storm Invitational at Southeastern Oklahoma State.
The Lions saw two players play for the championship at their respective flights at the Savage Storm Invitational, as Eduardo Bribiesca challenged at flight two and Killian Darneaux at flight three. Both matches went three sets, with Bribiesca falling in a 6-3, 2-6, 7-10 battle and Darneaux in a 6-4, 6-7, 7-10 decision.
Juan Rosello picked up a win in the consolation final of flight singles, 6-3, 7-5, while Halston Redwine won the consolation bracket at flight five.
In doubles, Darneaux and Bribiesca won the flight one doubles consolation match, 8-5, while Redwine and Rodrigo Hoppe fell in the flight three championship, 8-5.
At the ITA Central Regional the week prior, Bribiesca, Ramchane and Rosello all made the round of 16 in the main draw singles, a field of 64 competitors.
In the B draw, Redwine and Hoppe squared off in the consolation bracket semifinals, with Hoppe besting his teammate, 6-1, 6-2 before falling in the final, 4-6, 6-4, 6-10. The duo then won the consolation final in doubles, 9-8.
Rosello and Ramchane paired up to make a run to the quarter finals in the main doubles draw before dropping an 8-6 contest against the top seed.
At the women's ITA Central Regional, Arianna De Bernardo claimed a 7-5, 7-6 victory in her opening main draw match before being defeated in round two.
Isabella Serrano and Antonietta Bocache reached the consolation semifinals after a 9-7 win in the quarterfinal matchup.
The women are scheduled to open the 2025 spring season February 21 against Henderson State while the men open against NCAA I Lamar University February 1.
