ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Women's Tennis opened the 2026 season with a 4-3 win over Ouachita Baptist, marking its first win in a season opener since 2021.
The Lions started the match by taking the doubles point after Arianna De Bernardo and Rayssa Domingues teamed up at No. 1 for a 6-4 win while Antonietta Bocache and Gracie Pereff paired for a 6-2 win at No. 2.
UAFS then won at the top three flights in singles, led by De Bernardo with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 1.
At No. 2, Domingues battled to a three-set win, taking the match, 7-6, 3-6, 10-5. Bocache cruised to a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 3.
Pereff went three sets in her match, as well, at No. 4, but dropped a 6-3, 0-6, 6-10 decision. Chiara Sobenes rounded out the UAFS lineup with a 2-6, 2-6 defeat at No. 5.
The Lions are back at it Saturday at 11 a.m. at Henderson State.
