EDMOND, Okla. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Women's Tennis completed its second fall tournament this past weekend, taking part in the ITA Central Regional.
In Flight B singles, Sofia Tominaga earned three wins to advance to the quarterfinals. She claimed a 6-1, 6-4 win in the round of 64 followed by a 6-3, 6-3 win in the round of 32. In the round of 32, Tominaga battled to a 7-6, 7-6 win over Milana Quick of Central Oklahoma.
Her quarterfinal match also went back and forth, as Tominaga fell just short, 7-6, 7-6 to Daisy Barrow of Northeastern State.
On the consolation side of the bracket, Antonietta Bocache earned 6-0, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-1 wins as she advanced to the quarterfinals. She won her quarterfinal matchup, 6-3, 5-2 before falling in the semifinals, 6-3, 2-6, 7-10 to Erin Cahill of Emporia State.
Rayssa Dominguez and Arianna De Bernardo opened Flight A doubles with an 8-1 win over Northeastern State before dropping an 8-5 decision to Henderson State in round two.
Tominaga paired with Chiara Sobenes for an 8-3 win in Flight B doubles before having to withdraw in the second round.
The Lions will return to the court February 1 against Delta State to begin their spring season.
