FORT SMITH, Ark. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Women's Basketball will be adding a national champion to its roster for the 2023-24 season as guard Zyniah Thomas has signed to play for the Lions this fall.
Thomas, a 5-foot-5 guard from Dallas, Texas, averaged 5.9 points, 3.4 assists and 2.7 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game while shooting 40.0 percent from beyond the arc for NJCAA Division I national champion Northwest Florida State College. She scored a season-high 12 points against Monroe College and had six games with at least three steals.
"Zyniah brings a national championship pedigree to our program," McAdams said. "She has been coached by high-level people in Bart Walker at Northwest Florida and Melonie Hopson at Skyline High School in Dallas. Her command of the game and her ability at the point guard position will serve our team well."
Thomas averaged 3.8 points in 29 games her freshman season and had six games with five or more assists with a season high of eight assists against Tallahassee Community College.
