MARYVILLE, Mo. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Women's Basketball shot just 33.3 percent as the Lions dropped their road finale, 62-54, at Northwest Missouri State on Saturday.
Northwest Missouri shot 63.6 percent in the opening quarter to just 21.4 percent for the Lions as the Bearcats opened up a 17-8 lead after the first 10 minutes.
The Lions heated up in the second, shooting 50.0 percent, keeping the halftime deficit in the single digits after falling behind by 14. UAFS cut it to seven multiple times in the third, but each time the Bearcats responded.
A 9-0 run to start the fourth brought the Lions within 53-49 but the Bearcats answered with an 8-0 run to go back up by 12.
Guard Telisha Brown led the Lions with 13 points and five rebounds off the bench while guards Keytonna Ross and D'Ajha Horton added nine points each.
UAFS will begin the final week of the regular season at home Thursday against Central Oklahoma at 5:30 p.m. at the Stubblefield Center.
