SAN ANTONIO - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Women's Golf began its spring tournament schedule this week, finishing third in the Rattler Invitational at Dominion Country Club Tuesday.
Sydney Williams led that charge, earning a fourth-place finish to lead the Lions. Williams carded a three-round total of 225 (+9) at the par-72, 5,976-yard course. Williams sandwiched a pair of 77s around a second round 71 (-1) and recorded three birdies in each round. She led the tournament in par-3 scoring at even par.
Rachel Hicks posted her best finish of the season by placing 14th with a 233 (+17). Her best round was round one, where she fired off a 74 (+2) with five birdies. She led UAFS with 10 birdies, the second most in the tournament.
Sidney Stramel, Marvelyn Kartika and Simone Campise all tied for 19th with a score of 236 (+20). Kartika was one stroke behind Williams on par-3 scoring while Campise had a team-high 36 pars. Stramel was second with 33 pars.
The Lions finished with a team total of 923 (+9), two strokes behind host St. Mary's for second. The Lions improved each round, carding a 310-308-305 line.
Next up for the Lions is the Diffee Ford Lincoln Invite at Lincoln Park Golf Club in Edmond, Oklahoma.
