HOUSTON - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Men's Golf opened the spring portion of its schedule this week, finishing 14th at the Houston Classic at the Golf Club of Houston.
The Lions finished with a total of 931 (+67) over the three-round tournament. UAFS tied for the seventh best score in round three with a 302 (+14).
Ryan Bell led UAFS in his first tournament as a Lion, tying for 46th with a 229 (+13). Bell was three-under on par-5s and was second on the team with six birdies. He had his best round in the finale, shooting a 73 (+1) with three birdies.
Andrew Fakult followed bell in a tie for 58th, carding a three-round total of 232 (+16). Fakult had a team-high seven birdies, including four in his final round 74 (+2).
Jaden Chavez tied for 67th with a 235 (+19), while Jeremy Tandoy placed 69th with a 236 (+20). Chavez had a low round of 76 (+4) in round two while Tandoy carded a 77 (+5) in rounds one and three. Tandoy was one of seven players to record an eagle.
Case Englehart completed the UAFS lineup in 89th, finishing with a 249 (+33).
