LUBBOCK, Texas – The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith cross country teams concluded their 2023 seasons with the NCAA South Central Regional Saturday.
The Lions finished 25th in the women's 6k race with 667 points and 24th in the men's 10k race with 750 points.
Leading the women was Rachel Malik in 104th in 23:57.0. Following Rachel was sister Hailey Malik in 119th in 24:33.0 and Zoe Nesbitt in 147th in 25:48.7. Madison Thurston (26:01.9) and Quincy Efurd (26:33.5) rounded out the top five for the Lions.
Kailey Pentz and Jennifer Martinez finished back-to-back with times of 26:38.0 and 27:05.2, respectively, to complete the UAFS contingent of runners.
Corey Maxwell and Parker Brown paced the men, with Maxwell finishing 143rd in 35:36.6 and Brown right behind in 145th in 35:39.9.
Tyreek Gilkey ran one of his best races of the season, as he was the third Lion to cross the line in 36:27.4. Eko Tuel and Luke Bledsoe completed the top five for UAFS in 37:17.3 and 37:30.3, respectively.
Stihl Snyder (39:01.6) and Isaac Teague (39:35.3) rounded out the UAFS lineup.
