FORT SMITH, Ark. – Men's golfer Jaden Chavez and volleyball outside hitter Reagan Macha have been selected as this week's UAFS Athletes of the Week.

Chavez finished in a six-way tie for second after shooting a one-under 69 at the season opening DBU Invitational. He had been in the clubhouse as the leader at four-under following round two, but lightning halted play for the day and scores reverted to the end of round one. Chavez had three birdies on the round.

Macha and the Lady Lions went 2-2 at the Denali State Bank Ice Block Classic in Fairbanks, Alaska, last weekend, where she hit .251 with a team-high 61 kills. She was named to the All-Tournament team for the second weekend in a row.

She posted two double-doubles and had double-figure kills in all four matches. She hit .349 with 17 kills in a win over Findlay and hit .311 and tied a career-high with 19 kills against No. 20 Alaska Anchorage. Macha added 36 digs, nine aces and three blocks on the weekend, as well.
