Volleyball announces 2022 schedule

FORT SMITH, Ark. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Volleyball has finalized its 2022 schedule, with the Lady Lions playing 28 matches this fall.

The schedule features two tournaments, 16 Lone Star Conference matches, four matches against 2021 NCAA Tournament qualifiers and an LSC Crossover weekend.

UAFS starts the season in-state with the Reddie-Tiger Invitational August 26-27, playing two matches each on the campuses of Henderson State and Ouachita Baptist. It will see the Lions face Auburn Montgomery, Ouachita Baptist, Quincy and Kentucky Wesleyan.

The Lions will embark on their longest road trip of the season Labor Day weekend, flying north to Fairbanks, Alaska. There they will take part in the Nanook Classic facing off against Black Hills State, Findlay, Alaska-Anchorage and host Alaska-Fairbanks.

New in 2022 is the LSC Crossover, which will see UAFS take on one team from each of the other 'divisions' in the league in nonconference matches. Dallas Baptist will serve one of the four hosts, and the Lions will play Texas Permian Basin, the host Patriots and St. Mary's September 8-10.

Lone Star action begins September 16-17 when the Lions visit Lubbock Christian and Eastern New Mexico. The home opener for the Lions is September 21 against Oklahoma Christian with Western New Mexico at the Stubblefield Center September 23.

Remaining road LSC contests include Texas A&M-Kingsville, Texas A&M International, St. Edward's, St. Mary's, Midwestern State and Texas Woman's. Home conference matches include West Texas A&M, Cameron, DBU, UT Tyler, Angelo State and UTPB.

UAFS will also have a nonconference home match against Drury October 4 which kicks off a four-match homestand.

Postseason play begins November 10-12 with the Lone Star Conference Tournament with the NCAA South Central Regional scheduled for November 17-19. The NCAA Championships will be a part of the Fall Festival December 1-3 in Seattle, Washington.
