EMPORIA, Kan. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Volleyball was unable to keep pace at No. 24 Emporia State Friday, as the Lions were swept 25-20, 25-19, 25-12.
The Lions went back-and-forth with the Hornets in the opening set, tied at 19 before ESU close the set on a 6-1 run. UAFS kept pace with ESU once again in set two, trailing just 20-18, but the Hornets finished on a 5-1 burst to take a 2-0 lead.
Outside hitter Lydia Pitts had a team-high seven kills for the Lions while also collecting a team-high 12 digs. Libero Abbey Jackson recorded 10 digs and setter Scarlette Young had 12 assists. Middle Crystal Smith had four of the Lions' eight blocks.
UAFS closes out the regular season Saturday at 2 p.m. at No. 8 Washburn.
