FORT SMITH, Ark. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Volleyball will close out the regular season this week as the Lions visit a pair of ranked opponents.
The Lions will travel to No. 24 Emporia State for a 6 p.m. first serve Friday before taking on No. 8 Washburn at 2 p.m. Saturday. Both games will be streamed on the MIAA Network with live stats available at uafortsmithlions.com.
NOTES:
LAST WEEK: UAFS closed out its home slate as the Lions were defeated by Newman and Pittsburg State at the Stubblefield Center.
LEAGUE LEADERS: Middle Aspen Olson ranks fifth in the MIAA with a .317 attack percentage while middle Crystal Smith is second in blocks per set at 1.35. Setter Scarlette Young leads the MIAA with 43 total aces.
RECORD WATCH: Young ranks seventh with 79 career aces while Smith has the fifth most blocks in a single season with 135.
SCOUTING ESU: The Hornets are 20-5, 11-3 MIAA with a 6-1 home record. Former Lion Nyia Anderson leads the Hornets with 3.09 kills per set while libero Boglarka Rady is fifth in the league with 4.41 digs per set.
SCOUTING WU: The Ichabods are 22-3, 11-3 MIAA and are 10-1 at home this season. They lead the MIAA in numerous statistical categories and have three of the top four hitters in the league, led by middles Bella Limback and Alex Dvorak at .472 and .462, respectively.
THE SERIES: The Lions are 2-2 all-time against Emporia State and 0-3 versus Washburn.
