TOPEKA, Kan. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith concluded the 2025 season Saturday with a 25-14, 25-9, 25-23 loss at No. 8 Washburn Saturday.
UAFS led 22-21 in set three as the Lions looked to extend the match, but Washburn scored a pair of points to regain the lead. After UAFS tied it at 23-23 on a kill by outside hitter Lydia Pitts, the Ichabods scored the final two points to end the match.
For the match, Washburn hit .296 to .047 for the Lions.
Setter Trinity Funderburk posted a double-double in her final match with 11 assists and 10 digs with middle Crystal Smith leading the Lions with six kills.
UAFS registered 11 blocks on the afternoon, with five each from middle Jacia Hayes and middle Aspen Olson.
The Lions finished the season with a 13-16, 3-13 MIAA record.
