Riley and Lollie presented with LSC Scholar-Athlete Award

RICHARDSON, Texas – The Lone Star Conference announced its Scholar-Athlete Award winners Thursday, with 29 student-athletes recognized by league officials.

Each academic year, the LSC presents a Scholar-Athlete Award to one male and one female student-athlete at member institutions. These student-athletes are selected as representatives of the outstanding accomplishments in athletics, scholarship and leadership that are displayed on each LSC campus during the year.

To be eligible for consideration, student-athletes must have participated at least two years in their sport and be a member of the graduating class.

Representing UAFS were Nolan Riley of baseball and Mar'Shalia Lollie of women's basketball.

Riley balanced a 4.0 GPA while starting 99 career games for the Lions. He was named to the LSC All-Academic Team for the second consecutive season this year while batting .308 with a home run and 27 RBIs. He had a team-high 28 walks and .446 on-base percentage and had 10 multi-hit games with a 14-game hitting streak. Riley was named the UAFS Business Student of the Year and graduated with a degree in Business Administration.

Lollie earned her third All-LSC award this season after being named All-LSC honorable mention. Lollie was second on the team in scoring at 11.4 points per game and had a team-high 8.4 rebounds per game, third in the LSC. She posted nine double-doubles on the year, scoring 20 points twice and recording double digit rebounds 11 times. Lollie also broke the record for most offensive rebounds as a Lion, finishing her career with 251. She led the conference in field goal percentage, as well, at 54.3 percent.

Both student athletes have also been on the LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll in each of the past three seasons.
