FORT SMITH, Ark. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith student-athletes Brooks Sunny and Chyra Thompson attended the Lone Star Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee summer retreat in late July, along with 25 other LSC SAAC representatives and 13 LSC administrators.

At the retreat, hosted by Angelo State, the student-athletes engaged in leadership programming and had a session with guest speaker Will Baggett from Bowlsby Sports Advisors on "Setting the Brand Standard."

"The SAAC retreat was an amazing experience," Sunny said. "It was great to meet so many other student athletes in our conference who come from so many different places. It is also very good to know how much our voice as student-athletes means and the positive impact we can have with that voice."

Additionally, Sunny and Thompson participated in helping the local Boys & Girls Club with donations and cleanup and networked with the other student-athletes.

Outside of the learning and leadership activities, the student-athletes enjoyed playing sand volleyball, mini golf, bowling and an escape room.
