FORT SMITH, Ark. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Baseball placed five student-athletes on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, it was announced by the organization Tuesday.

The Academic All-District teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom, where student-athletes must have a 3.50 or higher GPA and have either played in 90 percent of the team's games or start at-least two thirds of the team's games.

Representing UAFS on the team are Ryan Riggs, Noah Davis, Grant Shankle, Tanner Callahan and Jordon Helm.

Riggs finished second on the Lions batting .302 with a home run and 22 RBIs, tallying eight multi-hit games and a pair of four RBI games.

Davis batted .269 and led the team with six homers and 31 RBIs, starting all 46 games. He recorded 13 multi-hit games and five multi-RBI games.

Shankle finished second in the MIAA with 92.0 innings pitched and posted a 5-8 record with a 4.60 ERA and 56 strikeouts. He tossed a complete game shutout in a 3-0 win over Emporia State.

Callahan appeared in 19 games out of the bullpen, striking out 14 in 22.0 innings pitched.

Helm started 36 games at shortstop, batting .228 with 21 RBIs. He had six multi-hit games, including going 4-for-6 with four RBIs in a win over Southeastern Oklahoma State.
