CLAREMORE, Okla. – Three Lions collected two hits each but University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Baseball dropped the series finale at No. 5 Rogers State on Wednesday, 8-3.
The Hillcats jumped on the Lions with five runs over the first three innings with the Lions pushing across a run in the second on a double steal by Logan Lundquist and Caleb Eisenhower.
Lundquist then contributed the Lions' second run with an RBI groundout in the fourth.
After the Hillcats scored twice in the fifth the Lions tallied their final run in the seventh taking advantage of a Rogers State error. Rogers State then added an insurance run in the bottom half.
Connor Earleywine, JJ Young and Spencer Bass all had two hits for the Lions while Ethan Waters allowed just one run over three innings in relief. Noah Brown also tossed a scoreless eighth inning.
UAFS concludes the regular season at home this weekend against Missouri Western at Crowder Field. Due to weather, the teams will now play a doubleheader Saturday at noon.
