FORT SMITH, Ark. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Baseball concluded the 2026 season Sunday as the Lions took one of three games from Missouri Western at Crowder Field.
Missouri Western 4, UAFS 2
Right-hander Eli Gilreath tossed a complete game for the Lions in the series opener but UAFS was no-hit in the loss.
Gilreath finished with nine hits allowed and four runs scored over nine frames while striking our five. He threw 138 pitches.
After the Griffons scored first in the top of the third, the Lions manufactured a pair of runs in the bottom half without a hit. UAFS put two runners on via the walk and then both advanced into scoring position on a passed ball.
Infielder Quinton Borders drove in a run to tie the game when he reached on an error then stole second allowing Connor Earleywine to race home for the 2-1 lead.
A pair of homers by the Griffons gave the visitors a 4-2 lead, while UAFS put two runners on in the ninth but were unable to break up the no-hitter.
UAFS 12, Missouri Western 11 (10 inn.)
The Lions led 9-3 in the top of the seventh before the Griffons scored seven times to take a 10-9 lead when the game was suspended due to weather.
When play resumed, the Lions tied the game on a bases-loaded double play in the bottom of the eighth and then took the lead on an RBI single by outfielder CJ Snowden. The Griffons then tied the game at 11-11 in the top of the ninth.
With two outs and nobody on in the bottom of the 10th, the Lions started a rally when infielder Caleb Eisenhower singled to right. Snowden collected an infield single and outfielder Spencer Bass walked to load the bases before outfielder Ty Wiley walked the game off with a two-strike single through the left side.
Aden Almeida pitched into the seventh before the game was suspended, allowing five runs on three hits with six strikeouts. Jett Frazier tossed the final four innings to earn the win, allowing two runs on three hits with three punchouts.
UAFS opened the scoring with four runs in the first on a two-run double by Eisenhower, a triple by Snowden and an RBI groundout by Bass. The Lions added four more runs in the fifth and sixth on a two-run double by Bass, a triple by Eisenhower and a Griffon error.
Snowden led the Lions with four hits with two RBI and a pair of runs scored while both Eisenhower and Bass had three hits and three RBIs each. Earleywine added two hits and a pair of runs scored.
Missouri Western 16, UAFS 4
The Griffons raced out to a 6-0 lead in the series finale before Borders put the Lions on the board with a two-run double to center. Snowden then homered to left center in the fourth to pull the Lions within 7-3 before catcher Cody Walkingstick doubled in Bass to make it 7-4.
However, the Griffons scored nine times over the final three frames and scored in all seven innings.
Snowden and Walkingstick paced the Lions with two hits each. Steffan Fak started for the Lions, tossing 3.2 innings.
