FORT SMITH, Ark. – University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Baseball will wrap up the 2025 regular season this week when the Lions travel to No. 15 Pittsburg State.
Game one of the series gets underway at 6 p.m. Thursday with game two set for Friday at 3 p.m. The series concludes Saturday with a noon first pitch. All three games will be streamed on the MIAA Network with live stats available at uafortsmithlions.com.
NOTES:
LAST WEEK: UAFS dropped two out of three at Emporia State after falling at home to Rogers State.
COMPLETE GAME GRANT: Lefty Grant Shankle threw a complete-game shutout in game two of the series at Emporia State, a 3-0 win. He allowed just three hits and struck out two.
AT THE PLATE: Outfielder Cooper White leads the Lions at the plate with a .338 average and four home runs with 30 RBIs.
ON THE MOUND: Shankle tops the rotation with a 4.01 ERA and a 5-7 record with 53 strikeouts in 85.1 innings pitched, tops in the league. Chase Pair is 4-3 with a 4.04 ERA.
SCOUTING PSU: The Gorillas are 36-9, 24-9 MIAA with a 21-4 record at home. PSU ranks second in the MIAA in batting average and ERA and is led offensively by infielder Dagen Brewer, hitting .364 with 19 home runs and 65 RBIs.
THE SERIES: UAFS leads the all-time series, 3-0.
