FORT SMITH, Ark. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Baseball begins the first of four straight weekends at home as the Lions are set to host William Jewell at Crowder Field.
The series has been shifted to a doubleheader Friday starting at 1 p.m. with game two to follow and concluding with a single game Saturday with a tentative start time of 1 p.m. All three games will be streamed on the MIAA Network.
Friday's games will be broadcast on Fox Sports Radio 103.5 while Saturday's game will air on AM 1230. Live stats will be available at uafortsmithlions.com.
NOTES:
LAST WEEK: The Lions swept a road series at Southeastern Oklahoma State, winning 19-8, 3-1 and 13-6.
21: UAFS tallied a program-record 21 hits in the 19-8 win over the Savage Storm.
LEADING OFF: The Lions are hitting .458 when leading off an inning so far this season.
AT THE PLATE: Infielder Noah Davis is fourth in the MIAA in runs scored (10) and sixth in hits (12) while batting .414 on the season.
ON THE MOUND: Reliever Grant Edwards threw five scoreless innings in relief to earn the win in the 19-8 victory. Lefty Grant Shankle turned in another strong start on the mound, allowing just one run over five innings in the 3-1 win.
SCOUTING WJC: Friday's game will serve as the season opener for the Cardinals, who went 32-22 in 2024. Infielder Evan Jilbert is the Cardinals' top returning hitter after he batted .342 with 20 homers and 88 RBIs last year. William Jewell posted a 7.44 team ERA last season.
THE SERIES: The weekend series will be the inaugural meeting between the schools.
