FORT SMITH, Ark. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Women's Basketball heads back on the road this week in the thick of a postseason push, set to visit Texas A&M International and Texas A&M-Kingsville this week.
The Lions and Dustdevils will square off at 6Â p.m. Thursday with the Lions then taking on the Javelinas at 1 p.m. Saturday. Both games will be streamed on the Lone Star Conference Digital Network with live stats available at uafortsmithlions.com.
NOTES:
LAST WEEK: The Lions split a pair of home games against the top two teams in the LSC, defeating UT Tyler before suffering a defeat to No. 10 Texas Woman's.
LET IT FLY: UAFS ranks second in the LSC in three-point percentage at 33.8 percent, averaging 7.4 makes per game. Guard Riley Hayes has made multiple threes in six of the last seven games.
EFFICIENCY: UAFS had shot better than 50 percent in three straight games prior to Saturday's contest against Texas Woman's.
SCORCHING THE NET: Guard Baylee Fincher is averaging 20.5 points over her last four games while shooting 52.0 percent from the field and 50.0 percent from three.
RECORD WATCH: Guard Hannah Boyett is the program leader with 888 points and 196 made threes. Hayes is third with 124 made threes.
SCOUTING TAMIU: The Dustdevils have won four games in a row and are 19-4, 11-4 LSC behind the league's leading scorer and reigning offensive player of the week in forward Raiana Brown. Brown averages 20.2 points per game for a team that leads the league in scoring and assists.
SCOUTING TAMUK: The Javelinas are 9-13, 5-10 LSC after splitting last weekend's contests. Forward Shelby Ray is the only Javelina averaging double figures with 11.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.
THE FIRST TIME: UAFS defeated TAMUK by one at the Stubblefield Center last month before dropping a high-scoring matchup against TAMIU.
THE SERIES: The Lions lead the series against Texas A&M International, 19-6, and are 2-5 against Texas A&M-Kingsville after the win earlier this season.
POSTSEASON OUTLOOK: UAFS currently occupies the No. 8 seed for the LSC Tournament, one game ahead of a three-way tie for ninth. Saturday's opponent, Texas A&M-Kingsville, is among those three teams.
