Cross Country teams prep for first MIAA Championships

FORT SMITH, Ark. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Cross Country will be the first to compete in MIAA postseason play as the Lions prepare to run in the MIAA Championships Saturday in St. Joseph, Missouri, at the Griffon Cross Country Course.

All 13 women's teams and 12 men's teams will compete in the event, with the men's eight-kilometer championship race to begin at 10:00 Saturday morning with the women's six-kilometer championship race scheduled to follow with an 11:00 AM start time. Live times and scores will be provided by MeetPro.

An award presentation will take place at the finish line after the protest period following the women's race. The top ten individuals will earn First Team All-MIAA honors and runners who place 11th through 20th will receive All-MIAA Honorable Mention honors.

Cadence Hodge leads the women's team by having the ninth-fastest 5k with a 17:53.9 and 6k with a 22:05.0, both school records.

For the men, Conner Valentine has posted the top 8k time this season with a 26:56.4 at the UAH Chargers Invitational.
