FORT SMITH, Ark. - University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Baseball will look to snap a nine-game losing streak when it visits Texas A&M-Kingsville this weekend for a four-game Lone Star Conference series.
The series begins Friday at 6 p.m. followed by a doubleheader Saturday starting at 2 p.m. The series then concludes Sunday at 1 p.m. All four games will be streamed on the Lone Star Conference Digital Network with live stats available at uafslions.com.
NOTES:
LAST WEEK: The Lions were swept at home by Texas A&M International.
OUT HIT: UAFS is 6-0 when they out-hit their opponent, but 0-14 when out-hit and 0-2 when hits are tied.
AT THE PLATE: Shortstop Matt Schilling leads the Lions with a .324 batting average and is tied with outfielder Michael Brinton with four home runs. Brinton tops the lineup with 19 RBIs.
ON THE MOUND: Starter Brayden Johnson leads the Lions with a 2.00 ERA and 47 strikeouts in 36.0 innings. He ranks fourth in the LSC in strikeouts and third in ERA.
SCOUTING TAMUK: The Javelinas are 13-13, 12-12 LSC after dropping three out of four against UT Tyler. Catcher Nick Wolff is batting .421 with eight homers and 33 RBIs to lead TAMUK at the plate while Kobe Jaramillo is the leading starter for the Javelinas with a 4.19 ERA and 35 strikeouts in 34.1 innings.
THE SERIES: UAFS will be making only its second trip to Kingsville, where the Javelinas lead the all-time series, 3-1.
