Final road trip sees Lions travel to St. Edward's, St. Mary's

FORT SMITH, Ark. – University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Men's Basketball will travel to St. Edward's and St. Mary's this weekend as the Lions wrap up the road portion of their 2022-23 schedule.

The Lions visit St. Edward's at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and play their final road game of the year at St. Mary's at 3 p.m. Saturday. Both games will be streamed on the Lone Star Conference Digital Network with live stats available at uafslions.com.

NOTES:

LAST WEEK: The Lions defeated Texas A&M International in double overtime Monday after being defeated by Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday.

600: Monday's win was the 600th career victory for head coach Jim Boone. He ranks sixth among active NCAA II coaches in career wins.  

OVERTIME: UAFS improved its record to 2-1 in overtime games this season with Monday's win.

AROUND THE LEAGUE: Guard Payton Brown is second in the league in scoring at 19.4 points per game and in made threes per game at 2.5. Guard Evan Anderson is eighth in assists at 3.3 per game and tied for first in assist/turnover ratio at 2.5.

MR. DO IT ALL: Guard Cameron Bush ranks in the top 40 in the LSC in points, rebounds, assists and steals. Bush scored a career-high 24 points in the win over TAMIU.

THE SERIES: UAFS leads both series, leading St. Edward's, 15-13, and St. Mary's, 16-12.

SCOUTING SEU: The Hilltoppers lead the LSC East Division at 18-7, 12-4 LSC having won their last three games. Guard Jeff Gary leads three players averaging in double figures with 13.7 points per game, as the Hilltoppers are second in the LSC in scoring at 78.5 points per game. They are second in field goal percentage (46.4) and first in assists (16.2).

SCOUTING STMU: The Rattlers have the No. 2 scoring defense in the LSC at 64.9 points per game and are 12-9, 9-7 LSC. Guard Caleb Jordan averages 14.2 points per game for the Rattlers while forward Tyler Caron averages 12.7. St. Mary's is first in opponent three-point percentage (29.9) and second in assists (15.4).

THE FIRST TIME: Both St. Edward's and St. Mary's left the Stubblefield Center with victories back in January, so the Lions will be looking to get even this time around.
