FORT SMITH, Ark. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Women's Basketball returns to Gayle Kaundart Arena at the Stubblefield Center this week to host Texas A&M-Kingsville and Texas A&M International.
The Lions will play TAMUK at 1 p.m. Saturday while the rescheduled game against TAMIU will take place at 5:30 p.m. Monday. Both games will be streamed on the Lone Star Conference Digital Network with live stats available at uafslions.com.
NOTES:
LAST WEEK: The Lions went up against the top two teams in the LSC in UT Tyler and Texas Woman's but were unable to come away with a road victory.
AROUND THE LEAGUE: Guard Aaliyah Prince is eighth in the LSC in scoring at 14.3 points per game. Guards Riley Hayes and Hannah Boyett rank second and sixth with 2.3 and 2.0 made threes per game, respectively. Forward Kayla Brundidge is sixth with 1.3 blocks per game.
DEPTH: UAFS has seven players averaging more than five points per game this season.
PERFECT: Boyett went 6-for-6 from beyond the arc last week at UT Tyler, marking the most made threes in a game without a miss in program history.
RECORD WATCH: Boyett is second with 142 career made threes, just nine shy of tying the record by Sydney Franklin. Hayes is seventh with 75 made threes.
THE SERIES: UAFS is 1-4 against TAMUK and 18-5 versus TAMIU.
SCOUTING TAMUK: The Javelinas have won six in a row and are 13-8, 10-5 LSC. TAMUK allows the second fewest points in the league at 58.4 points per game and holds opponents to just 24.6 percent from three. Guard Jayde Tschritter is the only Javelina averaging double figures while six players score more than six points per game.
SCOUTING TAMIU: The Dustdevils have lost six of their last seven games and are 12-10, 5-9 LSC. TAMIU is tied for the league lead in field goal percentage at 43.6 percent and leads the league in assists at 16.1 per game. The Dustdevils feature the LSC's leading scorer in forward Rai Brown at 19.7 points per game.
THE FIRST TIME: UAFS split its first meetings with TAMUK and TAMIU, dropping a 68-41 decision to Kingsville on the road before bouncing back with a 57-53 win over International.
