Divisional contests at TAMUK, TAMIU up next for Lions

FORT SMITH, Ark. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Men's Basketball will look to build on its overtime win over UT Tyler as it travels to Texas A&M-Kingsville and Texas A&M International this week.

The Lions are scheduled to play at TAMUK at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and at TAMIU at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Both games will be streamed on the Lone Star Conference Digital Network with live stats available at uafslions.com.

NOTES:

LAST WEEK: The Lions split a pair of games at home, dropping a contest to Dallas Baptist before defeating UT Tyler in overtime.

STAT SHEET STUFFER: Guard Cameron Bush filled up the box score in the win over UT Tyler, contributing 16 points, eight rebounds, five assists and two blocks.

OVERTIME: UAFS is now 1-1 in overtime games this season after the win over UT Tyler.

LEAGUE LEADER: Guard Payton Brown continues to lead the LSC in scoring at 20.8 points per game. Brown also leads the LSC in 3-point field goals per game with 3.0 at a 33.9 percent clip.

HELPING HANDS: Both Bush and guard Evan Anderson rank in the top 10 of the league in assists and assist/turnover ratio.

RECORD WATCH: Anderson ranks seventh with 123 made threes and third with 271 assists, as he moved past DaVaunta Thomas and Seth Youngblood last weekend. Anderson also ranks 10th with 68 steals. Brown is 10th with 78 career made threes.

THE SERIES: The Lions are 1-3 against Texas A&M-Kingsville and 14-10 against Texas A&M International.

SCOUTING TAMUK: The Javelinas have won four in a row and have a 9-5, 3-3 LSC mark. TAMUK leads the LSC with a 12.1 scoring margin behind three players who average double figures, led by guard CJ Smith's 13.1 points per game.

SCOUTING TAMIU: The Dustdevils are 6-1 at home this year on their way to a 9-5, 2-4 LSC record and allows the least amount of points in the league at 63.7 points per game. Guard Jermaine Dewey is the only Dustdevil to average double figures at 10.3 points per game, but eight players average at least five points per game.
