FORT SMITH, Ark. – Former University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Baseball catcher Daniel de Mondesert has been promoted to bullpen catcher for the Milwaukee Brewers, the team announced last week.
De Mondesert has been with the Brewers organization since December 2021, serving as a development coach with the Class Low-A Carolina Mudcats. In that role, de Mondesert was a catching coach, assistant hitting coach and first base coach.
"This opportunity truthfully means the world to me," de Mondesert said. "This has been a dream of mine since I was born and getting to continue to serve, grow, and learn on a major league staff will be a life changing experience. The Brewers have provided me with countless resources and an organization full of outstanding people that have developed me as a coach and challenged me to elevate my standards for success. This opportunity would in no way be possible without the endless help and support from my family, friends, mentors, and coworkers. I'm excited for this opportunity and look forward to working as hard as I can in my new role."
Prior to working with the Brewers, de Mondesert was a player development and scouting apprentice with the Texas Rangers. His duties included serving as a catching coach and assistant hitting coach in the Dominican Summer League, as well as assisting the complex manager with daily game reports, data collection and attending and evaluating amateur scouting events.
De Mondesert played four seasons for UAFS from 2017-2020, appearing in 39 career games and hitting .273 with three RBIs in the shortened 2020 season. Upon graduation from UAFS, de Mondesert was a graduate assistant at the University of Arkansas for one year, where he was the bullpen catcher and assisted the pitching coaches.
The Brewers are scheduled to open the regular season March 30 at the Chicago Cubs.
