LAWTON, Okla. – Guard Payton Brown scored a game-high 34 points as University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Men's Basketball was defeated, 84-72, Saturday at Cameron in Lone Star Conference action.
Brown finished 8-for-15 from the field and 7-for-11 from beyond the arc, as well as 11-for-13 from the free throw line. He added four rebounds and two assists as well.
The Aggies led 34-32 at the break, but shot 69.6 percent in the second half as they scored 50 points. They were 7-for-9 from three in the second half, as well, and finished by shooting 54.0 percent overall and 52.4 percent from three.
Cameron led by 15 with 10:39 left until the Lions went on a 15-4 run over a three-minute stretch to pull within 70-66. However, the Aggies scored four straight points to grow the lead back to eight and the Lions were unable to get any closer the rest of the way.
Forward Jaxon Ingram added nine points for the Lions, while guard Cameron Bush tallied eight points, four rebounds and three assists. Guard Evan Anderson had five points and five assists.
The Lions' road trip continues next week at UT Tyler and Dallas Baptist.
