Lions travel to UTPB for series with Falcons

FORT SMITH, Ark. – Next up on the schedule for University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Baseball is a trip to UT Permian Basin, where the Lions and Falcons will play a four-game series April 1-3 at Roden Field in Odessa, Texas.

Friday's game will have a 2 p.m. start time followed by a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m. The series concludes Sunday at 1 p.m. All four games will be streamed on the Lone Star Conference Digital Network with live stats available at uafortsmithlions.com.

NOTES:

LAST WEEK: UAFS split a home series with Cameron last weekend. The Lions won the first two games before seeing the Aggies take the final two.

WALK-OFF: Both wins against the Aggies were walk-off wins and all three of the home wins this year for the Lions have been walk-offs. They won game won on a wild pitch and game two on a bases loaded walk.

LEADING AFTER 6: UAFS is 10-0 when leading after six innings but just 1-17 when trailing after the sixth.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN: The Lions are batting .298 with seven homers and 93 RBIs on the road compared to a .222 average with six homers and 46 RBIs at home.

AT THE PLATE: Outfielder Kinner Brasher leads the Lions with a .338 batting average, while outfielder Hunter Church has a team-high five homers and third baseman Brooks Sunny leads with 23 RBIs.

ON THE MOUND: Dylan Rollins and Brayden Johnson each turned in solid starts against Cameron last week. Rollins allowed two runs on five hits over six innings while Johnson surrendered just three unearned runs on four hits with six strikeouts over 6.2 innings.

SCOUTING UTPB: The Falcons are at the bottom of the LSC with a 7-22, 6-22 LSC record. Outfielder Devin Ferrari leads UTPB with a .324 average, while infielder Oswaldo Godina is hitting .302 with a team high seven homers and 20 RBIs. UTPB is tied for second in the league with 29 homers. Parker Buys has been the top starter for the Falcons, posting a 1-3 record with a 6.00 ERA and 31 strikeouts.

THE SERIES: UAFS leads the series with the Falcons, 22-8, having won six of the last eight matchups. UAFS took two of three from UTPB last season at Crowder Field.
