Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Lions go cold in loss to Angelo State

FORT SMITH, Ark. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Men's Basketball struggled from the floor offensively in a 66-48 setback to visiting Angelo State Thursday at Gayle Kaundart Arena at the Stubblefield Center.

The Lions shot just 36.0 percent from the field and 9.1 percent from beyond the arc in the loss.

UAFS scored the first three points of the game on a three-point play by forward David Ekezie, but the Rams made three triples as they went on an 11-2 run heading into the first media timeout.

A jumper by guard Evan Anderson made it 16-11 in favor of the Rams, but that was as close as the Lions would get the rest of the way.

Down by a dozen at the break, UAFS quickly cut the deficit to 10 but the Rams responded with a 12-0 run over the next five minutes.

Guard Payton Brown led the Lions with 17 points while guard Cameron Bush added 11 points. Ekezie, Anderson and forward Furaha Cadeuax de Dieu all scored six points. Forward Jaxon Ingram had a team-high six rebounds.

UAFS scored 30 of its 48 points in the paint.

Next up for the Lions is a home matchup Saturday against UT Permian Basin at 3 p.m.
