Lions back in action at home against ASU, UTPB

FORT SMITH, Ark. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Men's Basketball will be back in action this week at Gayle Kaundart Arena at the Stubblefield Center, hosting Angelo State Thursday and UT Permian Basin Saturday.

The Lions will tip at 7:30 p.m. Thursday against the Rams and at 3 p.m. Saturday against the Falcons. UAFS will dedicate Gayle Kaundart Arena at halftime of Thursday's contest.  

Both games will be streamed on the Lone Star Conference Digital Network and broadcast on Fox Sports Radio FM 103.5. Live stats will be available at uafslions.com.

NOTES:

LAST TIME OUT: UAFS suffered a pair of defeats last week, dropping road contests at West Texas A&M and Lubbock Christian.

LEAGUE LEADER: Guard Payton Brown leads the LSC in scoring at 21.1 points per game.

HELPING HAND: Guard Cameron Bush is second in the league in assist/turnover ratio at 5.6 and is eight with 3.5 assists per game. Bush has 18 assists and just one turnover in his last four games.

BREAKING OUT: Guard Evan Anderson scored in double figures for just the second time this season at Lubbock Christian by scoring a season-high 21 points.

ON THE BOARDS: The Lions have outrebounded their opponent in six of eight games this season.

RECORD WATCH: Guard Evan Anderson ranks fifth with 253 career assists. He also ranks seventh with 116 made threes.

THE SERIES: UAFS is 1-3 against Angelo State and 13-7 versus UT Permian Basin.

SCOUTING ASU: The Rams have won four in a row for a 5-1, 2-0 LSC start. Guard Kevon Godwin leads ASU with 17.2 points per game while forward Fredelin De La Cruz averages a near double-double of 10.0 points and 9.3 rebounds. ASU is second in the league in scoring margin (12.7) and opponent field goal percentage (39.4%) and leads the league in rebounding margin (10.3).

SCOUTING UTPB: The Falcons split their opening weekend of LSC play and are 5-3, 1-1 LSC. Guard Azariah Seay paces the Falcons with 18.5 points per game and has three 20-point games this season. UTPB allows the second most points in the league at 78.0 points per game.
