WICHITA FALLS, Texas – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Men's Cross Country earned its first top 10 at the Lone Star Conference Championships Saturday, placing ninth in the 13-team field at River Creek Golf Course.
The Lions totaled 226 points, just two points behind eighth-place Cameron.
Carlos Hernandez paced the Lions with a 21st-place showing, completing the 8k in 26:04.5. Jordan Foster finished 44th in 26:59.0 while Joaquin Alva and Lawson Douglas were 52nd and 54th, respectively. Alva finished in 27:24.3 and Douglas in 27:26.9.
Cade Weatherton rounded out the top five finishers for the Lions in 70th in 28:11.3. Eko Tuel crossed the line in 77th in 28:28.6 while Isaac Teague completed the scoring for UAFS in 85th in 29:20.8.
"Today was a good day for our men," Head Coach Mason Rhodes said. "We have had a record season and today was another very competitive day. We exceeded expectations and our preseason ranking. We are still hungry for more, though. We have learned so much this season and will be using it to propel us to more success in the future."
Postseason continues for the Lions November 19 at the South Central Regional in Denver, Colorado.
