Senior Erica Burgess and redshirt freshman TaBaris Earnest paced the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith cross country teams on Saturday during the 74
th annual Oklahoma State Cowboys Jamboree at Stillwater, Okla.
The Lady Lions finished 26th overall in the event, which featured 30 teams in the College Division. Midwestern State University won the event, placing three runners in the Top 10.
Burgess, who is from Converse, Texas, finished 126th overall, covering the 5k course in 22:30.99. Sophomore Jacqueline Bowen finished 130th (22:43.26), freshman Pamela Chavez finished 146th (23:34.87), freshman Debra Silva finished 170th (26:04.77), sophomore Hannah Watlington finished 180th (26:57.71), junior Monica Burgess finished 182nd (27:10.79) and junior Rebecca Wheeley finished 189th (30:37.71).
The Lions finished 22nd overall in the event, which attracted 23 teams in the College Division. Cowley County Community College won the event, placing four runners in the Top 10.
Earnest, who is from Conway, Ark., finished 61st overall, covering the 8k course in a time of 28:03.98. Freshman Kolby Jones finished 113th (30:08.38), sophomore Sean Geraghty finished 138th (32:24.48), freshman Josh McDonald finished 147th (35:31.85), freshman Blake Branham finished 151st (44:21.25), redshirt freshman Justin Silveira finished 152nd (44:21.66) and sophomore Tyler Davis finished 153rd (45:37.41).
