FORT SMITH, Ark. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Men's Basketball guard Brandon Scott became the first player in program history to be named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America Team, the organization announced Tuesday.
Scott earned Third Team honors and becomes just the second student-athlete to earn the honor in the history of UAFS after volleyball player Heidi Luks in 2012.
Scott led the Lions with 13.4 points per game this year and ranked seventh in the MIAA with 2.1 made threes per game as he was named Honorable Mention All-MIAA. He scored in double figures 18 times with four 20-point games and had 11 games with at least three made threes.
Scott scored a career-high 33 points with eight made threes in a win over Missouri Southern and was subsequently named the MIAA Athlete of the Week. His scoring average jumped to 14.7 points per game in conference play.
He was one of four members of the Academic All-America Team with a 4.0 GPA in Psychology.
