FORT SMITH, Ark. – Outfielder Connor Earleywine tripled and collected two hits but University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Baseball dropped game two, 12-2, to Missouri Southern at Crowder Field on Saturday.
After infielder Caleb Eisenhower was hit by a pitch to lead off the bottom of the second, Earleywine tripled to the left field corner to give UAFS a 1-0 lead. He then scored on a run-down play to give the Lions a 2-0 advantage.
However, Missouri Southern answered with four runs in the top of the third off starter Aden Almeida. UAFS had runners at second and third in the fourth but was unable to cut into the deficit.
Missouri Southern then added six runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh. UAFS once again had an opportunity to score in the bottom of the sixth but left a runner stranded at third.
Eisenhower and outfielder JJ Young collected the other two hits for the Lions.
