ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Baseball was unable to slow down the Harding offense Friday as the Lions dropped a 19-7 decision to the Bisons in game two of the Henderson State Invitational.
Infielder Caleb Eisenhower gave the Lions the early lead with a two-run homer in the first, but the Bisons answered with two in the top of the second.
UAFS regained the lead in the bottom half of the frame as outfielder CJ Snowden homered and infielder Layne Sweat drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Harding then scored six unanswered runs until the Lions got back on the board in the sixth.
Eisenhower scored on a wild pitch before outfielder JJ Young scored on an RBI single from catcher Carter Allen to pull the Lions back within 8-6.
That was a close as the Lions would get, as Harding scored 11 more runs in the seventh through ninth innings.
Eisenhower finished 2-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored and a walk while Allen went 2-for-3 with a run scored.
Game three of the invitational sees the Lions face Ouachita Baptist at 1 p.m. Saturday.
